Shough’s Star Power: Another Air Raid

Louisville’s offense was unstoppable in their Week 2 showdown, soaring to a 49-14 win over Jacksonville State. Senior quarterback Tyler Shough threw for 349 yards and two touchdowns, marking his sixth career game with over 300 passing yards. His 48-yard touchdown to Chris Bell in the third quarter sealed the deal, and he added another score before taking a rest.

The Cardinals amassed 610 total yards, with Shough completing 21 passes to 11 different receivers. The offensive line gave him plenty of time to work, and Louisville converted 9 of 13 third downs while holding the ball for over 36 minutes, dictating the pace of the game.

Ground Game Galore: Five-Back Frenzy

Louisville’s rushing attack was just as dominant, racking up 233 yards with five different backs scoring touchdowns. Freshman Isaac Brown, alongside veterans Keyjuan Brown and Duke Watson, led the charge. Coach Jeff Brohm praised the balanced attack, saying it allowed the offense to stay on the field and control the game.

Defense Flexes Muscles: A Tale of Two Halves

The Cardinals’ defense tightened up in the second half, allowing only 91 yards after giving up 199 in the first. Led by Tamarion McDonald and Tramel Logan, Louisville's defensive line was relentless. Jacksonville State’s quarterback, Tyler Huff, was limited to 160 passing yards and a touchdown, with the defense adjusting well after halftime.

Special Teams Make an Impact

Louisville’s special teams blocked two punts and remained aggressive throughout. Brock Travelstead continued his perfect season with two field goals, and Isaac Brown added versatility as a kick returner.

Looking Ahead: Eye on the Prize

With two dominating wins, Louisville is gearing up for tougher competition. The combination of explosive offense, stifling defense, and consistent special teams play sets the stage for a strong season as the Cardinals aim to maintain their momentum.
