BYU Dominates Wyoming 34-14, Extends Winning Streak

BYU extended its winning streak to 10 games against Wyoming with a commanding 34-14 victory. In what might be the last clash at War Memorial Stadium, the Cougars (3-0) showcased dominance on both sides of the ball.

Strong Start and Solid Finish

The Cougars took control early, scoring twice in the first half. Jake Retzlaff bounced back from an early interception, finishing with 291 yards and three touchdowns on 22-of-36 passing, plus 62 rushing yards. He connected with Keanu Hill for a 20-yard touchdown and Kody Epps for a 3-yard score. Chase Roberts also stood out with 129 yards on six catches.

Wyoming (0-3) couldn’t keep pace, managing just 217 total yards. Quarterback Evan Svoboda had a mixed day, passing for 140 yards with an interception and rushing for two touchdowns.

Turning Points

BYU pulled away in the second half. Keelan Marion’s 100-yard kickoff return extended the lead to 17 points. Retzlaff’s 30-yard pass to Roberts set up a 37-yard field goal, and a 20-yard touchdown pass to Darius Lassiter sealed the victory. Wyoming’s late score wasn’t enough to close the gap.

Looking Ahead

BYU heads into Big 12 play with a perfect 3-0 record. Coach Kalani Sitake praised the team’s performance but emphasized areas for improvement. Wyoming’s coach Jay Sawvel expressed disappointment in his team’s missed opportunities.

While the historic rivalry between BYU and Wyoming, dating back to 1922, may be uncertain in the future, BYU’s focus is on continuing their strong season.
