Gearing Up for a Redemption Season
Clemson football heads into their home opener with something to prove. After a tough 34-3 loss to Georgia in the Aflac Kickoff Game, the Tigers, led by Dabo Swinney, are ready to bounce back. This isn’t just about one loss—it’s about reigniting a program hungry to reclaim its place at the top of college football.
New Faces, New Opportunities
Several fresh faces stepped up against Georgia. Linebacker Wade Woodaz shined with a career-high eight tackles, and sophomore defensive lineman Peter Woods made a big impact with 2.5 tackles for loss. Clemson’s young players will need to keep delivering as tough ACC matchups await.
Offensive Struggles and Potential
The offense struggled against Georgia, managing only 188 total yards. Freshman kicker Nolan Hauser scored the lone points with a 26-yard field goal. Quarterback Cade Klubnik had a tough outing, but with a game under their belts, there’s hope for improvement. Wide receiver Antonio Williams showed promise, hauling in six receptions for 76 yards.

SOCCER ⚽️

Clemson Soccer Teams Keep Momentum Rolling
The men’s and women’s soccer teams have been busy on the road, facing tough opponents while continuing to show why Clemson is a force to be reckoned with. Here’s how each team performed as they gear up for the challenges ahead.
Men’s Soccer: Hard-Fought Draws and Strong Performances
Clemson men’s soccer kicked off the week with a 2-2 draw against in-state rivals South Carolina in the Palmetto Series. Alex Meinhard opened the scoring off a penalty rebound, but South Carolina quickly equalized. The Gamecocks took the lead early in the second half, but Misei Yoshizawa brought the Tigers back level with a goal assisted by Ransford Gyan. Despite a late red card, Clemson held on for the draw, leaving the Tigers with a 1-0-1 record.
Earlier in the season, the Tigers cruised to a dominant 3-0 victory over Penn State. Alex Meinhard and Misei Yoshizawa both found the back of the net, while Clemson’s defense, led by goalkeeper Joseph Andema, kept a clean sheet. Clemson now looks ahead to their ACC home opener against Stanford, one of the newest members of the conference.
Women’s Soccer: Dominating Road Wins Keep Tigers on Track
Clemson women’s soccer is on a roll, securing a 4-1 win against Furman and following it up with a 3-1 victory over Campbell. Against Furman, the Tigers dominated early, with goals from Megan Bornkamp, Maria Manousos, and Mackenzie Duff in the first 25 minutes. Dani Davis capped off the win with a second-half penalty kick. The Tigers out-shot Furman 23-6, continuing their strong start to the season.
Next, the Tigers traveled to Campbell, where they secured their first road victory with a 3-1 win. An own goal gave Clemson the lead, followed by Christian Brathwaite’s first goal in a Tigers uniform. Kendall Bodak closed out the scoring, netting her second goal of the season as Clemson controlled the match with a 30-2 shot advantage.
With a 4-1-0 record, the Tigers now head to Columbia for a crucial Palmetto Series match against No. 21 South Carolina.
VOLLEYBALL 🏐

A Dominant Display with Room for Growth
Clemson volleyball kicked off the 2024 season with a mix of seasoned talent and fresh faces, making their opening weekend in Kalamazoo one to remember. Here’s a breakdown of the action as the Tigers made a statement and set high expectations for the season.
Saturday Sweep: A Statement Win
The Tigers came out strong on Friday, dominating Loyola Chicago with a 3-0 sweep. Clemson hit an impressive .322 as a team, the best opening mark since 2019. Senior Azyah Dailey was unstoppable with a .562 hitting percentage and nine kills. Freshman Neea-Maria Joki and sophomore Mia McGrath added to the attack with 11 kills and four aces, respectively.
After rallying to win the first set 25-20, Clemson never looked back. They took the second set 25-16 and sealed the match with a powerful 25-11 win in the third. A defining start to the season for sure!
Tough Loss and Taylor’s Milestone
On Saturday, Clemson faced a tougher opponent in Loyola Marymount, falling 3-1 after winning the first set. Despite the loss, senior libero Devan Taylor made history by surpassing 1,300 career digs, placing her fifth on Clemson’s all-time list. Junior Mia McGrath led the team with 12 kills, while redshirt sophomore Katherine Sandt posted a double-double with 23 assists and 12 digs.
Clemson showed promise but struggled to maintain momentum against a resilient Loyola Marymount team.
Sunday Surge: Tigers Conquer the Broncos
In their final match, Clemson took down Western Michigan in a four-set thriller (25-27, 25-23, 25-19, 25-20). This marked Clemson’s first win against the Broncos and snapped their 19-game home winning streak. Senior Azyah Dailey led with 19 kills, and Mia McGrath delivered a career-high 20 digs alongside 14 kills. Redshirt freshman Katherine Sandt contributed 42 assists and 13 digs, while Devan Taylor shined with 28 digs.
After dropping the first set, Clemson rebounded, making key adjustments to take the next three sets and close out the weekend strong.
